About Chalet Alyssum
This stylishly renovated chalet is in a great location in the traditional Alpine village of Le Grand Bornand, just 150m from a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants.
The ski bus stops just 150m away too, and it’s less than a kilometer to the pistes, so you could just park your car up and forget about it!
The property ...
Chalet Alyssum sleeps 14 people (12 adults) in six bedrooms. You’ll find three double bedrooms on the ground floor, the largest of which has an en suite bathroom and another one also has a sofa bed. There’s also the ski room on this floor, as well as the garage, laundry, massage table and changing room. Two of the bedrooms can be arranged as twin rooms if you prefer.
There is access to a large sunny terrace from this floor with a barrel sauna , and the jacuzzi, where you can laze away the evening while you watch the sun set over the Aravis mountains!
There are two more bedrooms on the first floor, both of which have en suite shower rooms, and one of which can be arranged as a twin room. The beautifully appointed living room is also on this floor - there’s a well-equipped kitchen and a large dining area with a table big enough for everyone. Cosy seating is arranged around an open fire and the television, but you might prefer to spend the evenings with a glass of vin chaud on the balcony.
Another flight of stairs takes you to a mezzanine floor with the sixth bedroom - an en suite double - and a television and games room. There’s also a library and office space up here, which overlook the living area below.
The garden is fairly flat and safe for children - if you are feeling brave in the winter you could follow your sauna with a roll in the snow!
The chalet has been beautifully decorated throughout, with slate greys, warm wood and huge picture windows making for a light and airy ambience.
About the area ...
When you stay at Chalet Alyssum, you're less than 1km from the pistes and just a short walk from the ski bus stop.
The bus, which also serves La Clusaz, runs every 15 minutes between Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, and is free to use with your Aravis ski pass. This pass covers more than 220km of pristine pistes, in the resorts of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod, so there's plenty of challenge for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are also plenty of cross-country trails.
Non-skiers won't be bored either - try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, ice-skating or ice-climbing. Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that ithere is always plenty of entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails criss-cross the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist offie. Le Grand Bornand has a beautiful 9 hole golf course with a great driving range, and on those very hot days, why not head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.
If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Momes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It’s always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you’ll never forget!
If Chalet Alyssum ticks all your boxes for an unforgettable holiday in the French Alps, check your dates against our availability calendar. We are happy to hold the property for 24 hours while you finalise your plans. But don't hang around - a luxury chalet like this in a village location is always in big demand with OVO Network guests.
The OVO Network Review
“This chalet really does have something for everyone...”
Chalet Alyssum is a 6 bedroom 5 bathroom chalet for 14 (max 12 adults) spread over 3 floors and 210 m2 of floor space.
Discerning guests searching for a stylish comfortable chalet, in the centre of Grand Bornand, with good proximity to the ski bus, the pistes, shops, restaurants, bars etc need look no further!
The inside of the chalet isn't at all the same style or age as the exterior walls! Indoors there are gorgeous brand new ensuite bedrooms, and quirky contemporary design touches. The chalet was completely and very well renovated ready for winter 2016/17 , attention to detail was obviously high on the owner's priority list.
The main communal area including the dining area, kitchen and lounge with fireplace is spacious and bright. There are plenty of extra luxury facilities indoors and out, (ie barrel sauna, large jacuzzi, a treatment/ relaxation space, TV room etc) and even a flat garden! All within short walk of the centre of Grand Bornand! This chalet really does have something for everyone - families will have fun, groups of friends can choose if they wish to eat in or eat out, non skiers can be independent and find plenty to do, skiers have great access to the pistes, hire shops, and of course apres ski! The car can stay parked up for the whole holiday, so no need to appoint designated drivers if you wish to venture out to eat or party! Summer guests will enjoy wandering into the village for croissants and coffee, or to the excellent events and entertainment organised by the Tourist Office. The facilities in the village are excellent, shhhh! Don't tell everybody...
The outdoor areas were completed in time for summer 2017 with an outdoor dining space, sun loungers, and plenty of toys to keep guests as busy or relaxed as they wish.
The owners are locals who have worked in the hospitality industry for most of their lives, they manage the property, offering discreet and helpful customer services. Don't just take our word for it, have a look at the very positive guest reviews on the web site!

From the Owner
We both wanted Chalet Alyssum to be a quality and sympathetic property where our guests felt happy and at home...
“We wanted to bring new life to this family chalet, which was built in 1975.
We both wanted it to be a quality and sympathetic property where our guests felt happy and at home. That is why we used local craftsmen and natural materials like wood, metal and stone.
The name, Chalet Alyssum, came from our passion for nature. Alyssum is a class of flower that includes more than 150 species. which include, in French, gold and silver baskets, bright perennials which cover the stones of the chalet.
After nine months of careful thought and work, we look forward to welcoming you from Christmas 2016.
Your contact will be with Pierre, who will help you organise your holiday. Coming from Le Grand Bornand, he has always worked in the village, played sport and been an active member of the community. Sophie, a trainee beautician, will be happy to advise you on the best places for pampering and relaxation. We look forward to welcoming you,
Sophie and Pierre
Thank you for this great stay in your fanstastic chalet.
We had lot of fun, good rest and we enjoyed our time with family and friends.
We'll be back !

“A comfortable chalet in a great location”
A very good holiday in a beautiful, comfortable modern chalet. The ski lockers at the gondolas are a great idea, making ski days easier. A very lovely, well-decorated chalet.

“A nice chalet”
We had a wonderful stay with 3 families at Chalet Alyssum. The chalet is as beautiful as on the pictures, it was sparkling clean. The spa and sauna were great. And we loved the interior of the chalet and the open fire.
We'd cooked ourselves in the evening and the kitchen was well-equipped. We would suggest some extra wine glasses.
Distance to the ski slopes is an acceptable walk; long enough to warm the muscles. The ski area is very beautiful (lots of trees) and not crowded at all, even during school holidays.
We liked the very natural ski area; no large buildings, the grocery stores and bakeries at walking distance.
We definitely recommend Chalet Alyssum !

“A magnificent week”
We are fans of Le Grand Bornand, but this was extra special. The weather was sunny, the chalet was beautiful and Pierre was kind and helpful. What a delight! We were sad to hand back the keys to the chalet. Hoping to be back soon.

“A fantastic holiday”
We had a great family holiday, despite the snowy weather, with our two babies in this gorgeous chalet, which was clean and very spacious.
Chalet Alyssum is well designed for 12 adults with children. The decoration is great, and we loved the light, the space and the stunning view.
We did appreciate being able to walk to the small lovely village with our two-year-old children.
We are leaving with plenty of very good memories. Many thanks to the owner for his help and advice.

“Everything was perfect”
Many thanks to the owner for his very warm welcome.
We had a great Christmas holiday with our family in this gorgeous chalet, where everything was perfect.
The location in the centre of the village means you don't need to get the car out, and it's very convenient when you have a young family.
We loved the amount of space in the chalet, the brightness, the big living room, and the equipment.
We hope we'll come back....

“Beautifully decorated, very comfortable and welcoming”
We had a great time at chalet Alyssum, with family and friends. The chalet is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and welcoming. Its location is ideal: close to the village centre and the pistes. Mr Baur's kindness was also greatly appreciated. We hope to come back next year!!!

“Well, what a fabulous chalet...”
I have stayed here many times, and it's always been terrific. This recent stay was a very special treat as Chalet 'La Savoyarde', which became Chalet 'View', and is now Chalet Alyssum has had a make over... it is unbelievable the work that has been done, the attention to detail and the quality of both materials and workmanship throughout every area. I would fully recommend this Chalet for staying in. My only reservation is that I go to Le Grand Bornand to ski - and this Chalet says: 'stay in and enjoy the luxury, use the facilities and really relax!!! Well done Pierre. Great Job !
Lee M. - 21/01/2017
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful chalet! We've had such great moments in Grand Bornand. The snow was great and skiing was amazing. We're already planning our next skiing vacation. We also loved the sauna and jacuzzi!

Why Le Grand Bornand?
Le Grand Bornand is an idyllic Alpine village which happens to be surrounded by some great skiing and in summer, a superb mountain playground. There are none of the huge hotel complexes you'll find in other ski resorts – just a friendly welcome all year round. Families are particularly welcome, with a great programme of activities to keep kids of all ages busy and happy.
